It's been a pretty good prespawn season on the river system

With the water temperatures, water levels and time of the year targeting Walleye's and saugers both in deeper water and shallower water can be productive.  If you trust your electronics enough when you see the marks you should concentrate on those fish for some time.  On most days sooner or later they will try and eat something.

Now with that being said you should try other baits out to try and trigger them.  Does this mean if a guy or gal fishing next to you catches one on a minnow or some other plastic mean you should use same thing?  Not necessarily.   That my have triggered one fish to bite.  Once you pattern a certain color then switch the other to this.

I have fished Dubuque rigs in the mornings as of late in my boat then switched gears to pulling three ways with floating rapalas.  Both techniques have produced Walleye's and saugers and each day one did out produce the other.   The colors of raps have been different each day going from blue silver, hot steel, black and gold, and finally purple decent.  We mainly used number 7's over the last couple weeks but that will change with the water temps rising.

Monday the 3 rd Don Bross  and his dad Larry joined me   What a fun day teaching Larry a few things about fishing today he was a blast to have in the boat

Tuesday Micheal from DSG  brought Andy and Randy out for a trip and we put a nice limit of fish in the boat   Great time gentlemen nd look forward to another day on the river with you

Wednesday I had my annual trip with Tom, Charlie , and of course Kurt from Davenport, Iowa    These three gentlemen are always a great time in the boat and they bring me a bonus pizza from Harris pizza in the quad cities    Mmm mmm good.

Thursday the 6th Ryan Denzer from DSG brought a couple of his clients up from lacrosse area and again these boys got to put a clinic in some very nice walleye and saugers.   Great time Ryan, Todd and Ryan    By the way Denzer I can see Robert and I have taught you well   You have really gotten very good at Dubuque rigging.

Friday the 7 th I had the pleasure of sharing my vessel with Jim, Bill, and Ron.   Ron contacted me by email back in early December he wanted to get certificates for his two son in laws for Christmas     What a great father in law you gentlemen have and nice walleye you got the other day Bill.

I would like to thank all of my clients that pick my guide service for your trip on the night Mississippi River, and it makes my day to hear you give me feed back on how you do after I have taken you out and teach you how to use certain techniques

Good luck out there guys and gals!!!
