Over the last couple weeks I have fished both pools. The bite has been very consistent on the river system even with the water levels coming down to normal as of late. The biggest thing I can't say enough to people going out is believing in your electronics.
We have been doing three different techniques in my boat to put walleye in the live well. Dragging jacks jigs with crawlers and leeches is a great technique with the lower water levels have have has as of late. I have also been using the rig on days and last pulling bottom bouncers has produced plenty of fish. You pick which technique you prefer and go chase the walleye and sauger down.
The water depths I've gotten them to go in ranged from 2-16 ft. This is where watching your electronics is a must. One day the we're going shallow and the next they were deeper. Lately I have been seeing some schools of Shad surfacing which is a normal fall time deal. The signs of fall are here and things will really get good in October.
I would like to thank all the folks that have used my guided services so far this year. I have had a great time watching everyone enjo themselves on my vessel. And look forward to many days out on the Mississippi River system. In my opinion this is one of the top walleye destinations in the world.
water temperature today was 71 degrees. Water lever was 3.07 ft. Clarity is about 18 inches which is very good for this time of the year thanks to the lack of rain lately.
Good luck out there guys and gals!!!!
