Had a trip on pool nine for some Mississippi River gold

Monday morning I woke up at about 345 am.   Headed out the door for a little longer road trip to Genoa, Wisconsin.  I pulled into newly coast guard approved Captain Robert Lampman house by 7 am and there he had breakfast waiting for me.  What a great gentlemen he is for taking care of me while I was down there that way.

When we finished breakfast we hooked up the boat and headed to the public launch just south of the Genoa lock and dam.   This is where Steve and his good buddy Frank jumped into the boat.   We set out to chase perch first this morning however after only getting a couple in the boat we then switched gears and headed downstream to chase Walleye’s.

The Walleye’s did not disappoint us today, we boated several Walleye’s and even a few Gar to boot including one that Frank landed that went 48 inches long.   What a beast and a great fight for Frank. By the time we ended our day today Frank and Steve had their limits of Walleye’s that I cleaned up for them to take home to feed the families.  It was an absolute blast gentlemen and as always I look forward to our next outing in the mighty Mississippi River.  Good luck on you trip to Lake Erie next month.  The boys are pictured below with some of their catch from today.

Tuesday Captain Rob, Paul and I headed out for Walleye’s for a few hours and wow I’m glad we did this right away this morning we got into a couple real nice Walleye’s and several eaters too.  Rob had the hot hand today for the bigger fish today that I have pictured below.   Fun time guys and I will see you up in Redwing soon for our outing up there.

The water temperature down on pool 9 was 34 degrees and the clarity is about 15 to 24 inches.   The flow while we were out was around 28000 cfps.  Water depths we got our Walleye’s in ranged from 12-19 foot.   Ringworms were the best baits for us in this trip.

Good luck out there guys and gals !!!!
