Over the last week or so we have had days on the water that the bite has been pretty decent at times to having to scratch our heads at what the Walleye's are doing. Welcome to the walleye world. These fish continually make us fisherman try and think of what we can do to get them to be more consistent in the bite.
I have had the pleasure of sharing my vessel with several families that have brought their kids out on the boat. It is great to see these youngsters when they figure out what a bite feels like impaired to just dragging the bottom. There smiles make my day and make me feel good as a guide than I can give them the experience they want when the get into my boat.
I have been mainly dragging jigs, trolling, and fishing wing dams. Each technique had its time to shine although none weee super hit with the exception of the many many catfish biting in the wing dams when in trying to catch Walleye's. And a few bonus small mouth bass. When dragging jigs I have been in water depths that ranged from 3-10 ft. Finding the areas with a little more current seemed to be the best option for my vessel.
I would like to give a big shout out to these young gentlemen on how well they behaved and very quick listeners on what to do in the boat. Nathan, Sam, Logan and today client Evan. Great kids and make sure you guys thank your parents for taking you out on a guided fishing trip.
Good luck out there guys and gals !!!!!
