The river has been dropping very quickly and I have always noticed as this happens the bite can be very good. So the last two weeks has proven me that this is true this year.
Last week I had the pleasure of having Tom, Terry , and his son Lars out on the mighty Mississippi. The walleyes and saugers were biting pretty good right away in the morning with most being on the smaller side. Although we had some for the frying pan today too.
We were trolling in the morning to catch our walleyes and saugers and as the bite slowed for this technique we then went to a couple other areas and dragged jigs. Both techniques caught fish today with that being said we put a few more keepers into the boat dragging. We fished in water depths from 2-10 feet deep today and tried to find areas with a little more current with the warmer water temperatures. Great time guys and I look forward to next year.
Saturday Chad, Brad, Garret and I headed out for some multi species fishing on a lake up north. Although I hate leaving my river it was well worth it today. We caught largemouth bass, small mouth bass, Rock bass, sunfish, northern pike, yellow perch, and walleyes today. My first cast with my Beatle spin I caught a walleye.
We fished both weed edges and rocky areas today to catch our fish. It was nice to have a change of pace and fish some really clean water. Most of the water depth we caught our fish in today was around 7 foot. Great time gentlemen and I look forward to going out again.
Good luck out there guys and gals !!!!!!
