With the river staying very high for this time of the year I have spent quite a bit of time fishing on Lake Pepin.   We have mainly been trolling cranks on break lines and rigging the points.   With that being said I would say I seen several guys jigging points also and producing fish.  

Each point had a different target area and at diffent depths the Walleye’s were biting in.   On one point I was catching them rigging in 7-10 ft. And when the bite slowed I went to another point and fished in about 16-19 ft.   Each day was different on what they wanted between leeches or crawlers.  

When trolling, I was using lead line with jointed Shad raps to produce my walleye and sauger.   The depths depending on what area I fished was also different in each one.   When I would go through an area trolling I would see the marks on my Garmin then I would target those fish.  Original colors on the crankbaits seemed to be best for my boat.

I have had the pleasure of taking out several young kids lately, some are return customers,  and also some new young lads in my vessel.   It was so fun to watch Morgan, and  O-dog have a good time again in the boat this year.   And also Brice, Andrew who I had this spring and now his little brother Adam joined us for some fun today.    What a great job all these kids did in my boat.  And thank you Tim and also Mr. Jay Franz for bringing the kids for a day of fun on the Mississippi River. 

The river is dropping at a pretty good pace at the moment so adjustment will have to be made each day.  The walleye bite is in full summer swing now so several techniques will work to put walleye and sauger into the boat.   Finding a hot area may only last from 20 minutes to and hour then you will have to be onto the next spot.  It also never hurts to try different things or places out as the fish are on the move.
