Fishing and spending time with family was a juggle , but we definitely got both things completed this year with great success.
Christmas Eve I got out and did some ice fishing and the fish was a little slow but managed to put a meal together on the his date for the family. I spent Christmas day with the wife and kids and the back out on the day after with my brother Robert, Ryan and Dillon.
We all met at one spot on the backwaters to try for some crappies through the ice. We got a few there then I told them hey let’s go hop in the boat. We headed down to Everts resort and off we went searching for an open water bite. It did not take long and we were putting some nice fish into the livewell for the guys to take home to share with their families.
We were concentrating on an area I caught fish in 4 days prior and after a little adjustment due to the flow picking up we ended up fishing this area couple hours and we had the limit and headed to the harbor bar for lunch before heading back out to ice fishing for crappies.
We made a long haul to the second spot on the ice and after searching a bit Robert found an area the fish really cooperated. We managed to put 24 crappies on the ice in this area. And a bonus walleye that I caught in this area. It was an abosulute blast guys and I look forward to our next trip in next couple weeks. We caught the crappies at 5 ft in 11 foot of water. We were using spoons, spikes and minnows. The spoons caught more than anything else.
As always it was a great time bro with you and a Dillon on the ice and in the boat. And nice to meet Paige’s boyfriend Ryan, he is a very nice young man. But don’t forget Ryan she’s my niece so double think before you make the wrong move. Lol
With the warmer temperatures coming up it’s gonna be fun both in the boat and on the ice. I am starting to get trips booked up for the spring bite so if your thinking of going out with me I would get ahold of me soon to book a day before I’m booked out during the March and April bite.
Good luck out there guys and gals!!!!
