Dropping water levels equals pretty good walleye bite

Over the last couple weeks the river has dropped very quickly, with that happening I have switched gears from fishing on Lake Pepin to concentrating on some good old summer river spots.

I have been fishing both pools 3 and 4 as of late. With the bite being very successful on each outing. The Walleye’s have been on the move with the falling water levels so staying out in the river as much as possible was a must to keep up with them.

We have been fishing several techniques to catch the Walleye’s and sauger from trolling the rig, dragging jigs, to pulling three ways with crawlers.  Each day it seemed it would change on what technique they wanted so keeping all three in your arsenal is a must this time of  the year.

Water depths we have targeted have ranged from 2-9 ft.   All depending on what technique you pick is based on flow, clarity, and water depth .

I have had some wonderful clients in the boat as of late and seen some really great smile on both the kids to the grandparents I have had out with them.  I’ve even had gentlemen from as far away as Atlanta in the boat with me lately.   Thank you to everyone for choosing my guide service and I look froward to another day out in the river with you.

Good luck out there guys and gals!!!!
